How can I start my own business repairing jewelry from my house?
I used to be a bench jeweler. I really enjoyed it, but there are no employment opportunities for this career in this small town i live in So I thought Perhaps I could start a business from my home where I repair jewelry for pawnbrokers, small jewelry stores, individuals, etc. The only Problem is, (I know this sounds crazy) I wanted to know what would be the best way to convince companies that I am a legitimate interest, woman honest business. I would have to take their goods from the store to my house. I love doing jewelry repairs, and I am a honest worker. I need to work from home. I'm sure not a pawn shop or jewelry store here has enough repairs come to this need someone on staff and in-store full time. So I thought to have a shop in my house if I can provide services many companies would be perfect. But how could I represent and instill confidence in my potential customers? Suggestions?
To win confidence … get a business license and be bonded / insured. The link / insurance will cover people who have the jewelry in case you off with her. Always carry proof of the bond / insurance when you make calls on companies (provide the name of your insurance agent if they want to check the insurance). If you can see examples of your work (before and after photos), it would be helpful. Also, once you get some customers, ask if they can be used as references – it's nothing like having a satisfied customer to provide a good reference. Remember to a list of places you have previously worked as a jeweler.
