Ten Reasons to Start an Online Business
Are you looking for ways to get some extra income, or maybe even leave your “fool-time” job behind for good? The best way, by a long shot, is to start a business of your own. Ask anybody that has a business, well at least an online business. Those are the ones that really rock! Once they are setup you can sleep soundly at night, knowing you are making money while you sleep!
There are many reasons to start an online business, whether you really need the extra money, or just want to try it and see if you can replace your income and quit your job. Making money online has really never been easier, although I’ve only been at it for about 2 years, the opportunities are now endless! Let me give you a few reasons I feel it’s the best business to be in.
1) Low start-up costs – the price you must pay to start most “brick and mortar” businesses is very steep, normally in the thousands. With an online business, you can get started for about $15-20, literally. Of course it does depend on what type of business you want to start, but if you are the creative type money is one thing you don’t need.
2) It’s a stay at home enterprise – you don’t need to go anywhere, and in fact you can literally start work in your “undies” if you so desire. I don’t of course, but you could. This way you save on gas, have much less stress, and no boss to deal with.
3) Most information is free – in most business you really need an “expert” to take you by the hand, but in the case of internet business most information is not only on-line and available to all, but it’s free! I can’t tell you how much I have learned just by signing up for a few newsletters, reading forums, and trolling through the ezines that abound.
4) You are the boss – I guess for a lot of people this is a huge reason, nobody to answer to but you! The downside of this is, there’s nobody to scold you when you get lazy, if you let that happen. It’s amazing how hard you will work though knowing that you get to keep nearly 100% of the profits! You still have to pay taxes, unfortunately.
5) The world is your market – believe it or not, the vast majority of the world is now internet ready. Yes, you sell your products to Australia, Europe, Canada, anywhere that can imagine. Most countries speak English now, although the ones that don’t probably aren’t your customers anyway. It’s been estimated that about 1 billion people are online right now.
6) Bring your creativity out – many people hate their jobs because they feel like they are just a “cog in a wheel” so to speak. Doing the same things, basically, over and over every day. Why can’t I use my brain for a change? Well, when you have an online business you are required to think outside the box! Being creative is a huge plus, because you need it stay on top of the pack, whether you are marketing your products, negotiating with suppliers or clients, or setting up a new website. Rarely are 2 days exactly the same back to back.
7) Tax advantages – of course you have certain advantages to owning any business, this is a big one! You can write off (in most cases) the majority of expenses related to your business, including a PC, office furniture, internet fees, supplies, printer, etc.
Have more fun every day- this has been my experience, and many others that I know, after awhile they get much more satisfaction from their business. Once you get things rolling, the frustration level goes down and you really start to have fun thinking up new ways to make money online!
9) More free time – I don’t know why I didn’t put this one close to #1, it’s way up there with most people. You know how when you go to your job you end up surfing the web, shooting the breeze, or generally socializing for at least a couple hours a day? When you have a home business, once you put in your time (a few hours, normally) you can go where you want, and do what you want! Much more free time, that’s a good thing.
10) Finally, pride in yourself – when you have a successful business you can feel really good about yourself. It is really something to be proud of! A major accomplishment indeed, and something others in your group will envy you forever for.
