What other factors are important to encourage students work hard?
Setting challenging but attainable goals are important to encourage people to improve their work performance. Assume that your teacher has just said:
“To encourage you to perform better in this class, I would like you to do 15 slides for the final presentation, based on at least 20 sources of research reference.”
In this case, what other factors are important to encourage students work hard? Explain.
I do not believe that setting challenging but attainable goals encourages people to improve their work performance. It only increases the amount of work required by the goal setter.
Goal setting measures the abilities of those that are interested.
To encourage people you have to get them interested and keep them interested. If they have no real interest, then performance will be poor regardless of the amount of work required.
One could become encouraged to a better job by seeing a poor job and realizing they could do better.
In this case bringing the class to a point where they see how good a presentation can be if it has 20 slides and 25-30 reference sources would be encouraging them that 15 slides and 20 sources is not unreasonable for a good presentation.
