1. Access to ALL 4 major professional sports. Football / Baseball / Basketball / Hockey.
2. Success in all 4 major professional sports. Not necessarily measured by championships.
3. Has a major sports franchise ever left your town??? New Yorkers don’t forget the Brooklyn Dodgers !!!
4. Access to NCAA Division I college sports.
5. Success of NCAA Division I college sports. Again, not necessarily measured by Championships.
6. Tradition.
7. Fan fervor / attendance.
8. Quality of venues. Arenas, Stadiums, Parks.
9. Number of Hall of Famers.
10. Original teams or Expansion teams in your town ???
11. General Nostalgia.
12. Indigenous fans vs. Transplant fans.
13. General Sports Atmosphere.

Boston would definately be #1.
How can you compete with Red Sox Nation, Fenway Park, Bruins, Pats, Celtics, Sox. Boston College, Northeastern, Harvard.
Strong Traditions- sold out crowds.
One of the oldest Baseball teams.
Despite the Brooklyn Dodgers leaving, New York would be #2 & no colleges
Chicago #3 – Cubbies, White Sox, da Bears, Bulls & of course the Blackhawks. Plus a ton of Colleges in that area.
Getting all 4 Pro Sports is tough.
#4 Detroit
#5 Philly (just for the 4 sports it beats Pittsburgh but I think the Pittsburgh environment & fans are better.)
I really want Pittsburgh in there even though they don’t have a basketball team. Pitt, PSU, Pirates (not lately though), Steelers, Pens – Steelers following is HUGE, Pirates still have fans despite the current record. PNC Park & Heinz Field are INCREDIBLE.
